Scorers: Murtagh, Hinton (2)
Player Summaries (out of 10):
1. Wig - not a save to make, picked up the ball four times and conceded one goal.
6.
2. Billy - best game in years, played the ball out of defence well and didn't
let his man get away from him. 8.
3. Guy - a solid performance not letting his man get past him and playing the
ball up the line at every opportunity. One bullocking run. 7.
4. Ben Cop - razor shins totally in control. Goal saving tackle in first half,
head on most balls, played out of defence well. 9.
5. Ian - alongside Cop, got his head on everything including a flying goal line
clearance. Plenty of big tackles, took a tasty kick to the ankle in the last
10 minutes of the game. 10 Man of the Match.
6. Oli - only father in the side and David Beckham of the team. Solid and driving
influence. 7.
7. Tony M - out of position. Took 20 minutes to settle in to left hand side but
proved a revelation. Shocked everyone with ability to take a decent corner (apart
from the last one). Also got one assist although he may claim it was two - ignore
him. 8.
8. Gary - Great touches, plenty of composure and combat in midfield. 9.
9. Jordan - Great touches, telling balls and ability to slow the game when needed.
Never flagged throughout and truly earned his post match Marlboro red. 8.
10. Jimmy Murtagh - Good to have the raw pace back, something we have lacked
since I played up front. Chased everything from the first whistle worked himself
a number of chances and got the equaliser when we really needed it. Scored one
and made one. 9.
11. Al Hinton - worked hard, chased everything, first shot of the game was a
beauty and more importantly - a goal to put us up two - one in the second half.
Not long after he made it three when walking the ball into the net. 8.
Subs - none.
Referee - quiet.
Teas - delicious.
Moment of the day - end to end move, starting with Billy playing ball to Gaz
on edge of his own box. The ball went to Jordan, who lofted it forward where
Jimmy M chested the ball down to Al to run onto.
Shot of the day - Al Hinton strike to make it 2-1, short twitching stuff.
Save of the day - whatever.
Quote of the day - Billy (5ft 7and a quarter ins) to Tony (6ft) - 'Let's swap
posts cos I want to go on the back post', thirty seconds before the ball bounced
one inch over Billy' head into the net. |
